Love, Savannah book cover“Mystery and romance tangle during a hot Georgian summer. R. M. Parrish has done her research. Grab a tall glass of iced tea and let her take you back to the turn of the century, to a plantation turned inn where the romance sizzles, guests are family and everyone has something to say.”

A review from You Gotta Read Reviews

“I recommend this book to anyone. This is one you can definitely enjoy as well as allow young adults to read without compromise.”

— Brenda Talley

“LOVE, SAVANNAH has that Southern charm that pulls the reader into the post Civil War lives of the people in Savannah and Carolina’s world. The affects of war on lives long after the war ends is very evident. Overcoming some horrific deeds, the characters more on with their lives and the reader breaths a sigh of relief to know love finds a way.”

Shelby Sweet Book No. 1

WILD CHILD PUBLISHING (wildchildpublishing.com)

NOW #1 in the Young Adult category at Wild Child Publishing! Order your copy today!

The I’m Not Your Princess DiariesIn this first installment of the Shelby Sweet diaries, the troubled Shelby has a terrible secret. Shelby’s secret could blow her whole life to smithereens. Her most important job is to never tell a soul. Ever. Shelby meets Scott who leads the tween youth group at the family church. Shelby is sure she could never be worthy of someone like Scott, but she keeps bumping into him. Then there is C.W., her mysterious and totally gorgeous next door neighbor who keeps sending out mixed signals. Her sister refuses to speak to her, and something is horribly wrong with Grandma Sweet. And worst of all, there is the lingering fear that at any moment, Shelby’s father might sweep the family away again to some new town and she’ll have to start all over.

Is it worth getting close to anyone at all?

The I’m Not Your Princess DiariesWith the help of some new friends, and a Grandmother just struck down by Alzheimer’s, she learns that while people fail you, God doesn’t.

“I absolutely LOVED it. The voice is fantastic. It has all the elements of a teenager’s life: secrets, angst, feelings of low self-worth, and sprinkles of happiness. After leaving all she holds dear behind, Shelby has to move to a new area with her family. Convinced they don’t like her, she embarks on making friends and settling in to a new church. Will her secret come out? And if it does, how will everyone perceive her? Wracked with guilt, Shelby holds the burdens inside with only her diary to share her woes with. Until someone very special arrives in her life…"

“Shelby is a teen with a big secret. After moving to a new town, Shelby not only has to come to terms with her past but also try and fit in to a new neighbourhood and school. Shelby feels alone, despite living with her parents and her sister. No one listens to her, and Shelby feels no one even cares.

The teenager muddles through, despite her terrible burden — one no teen should go through alone — and forces herself to ‘fit in’. Always feeling she doesn’t, it’s a hard feat to carry on day to day with a smile on her face.

She meets Scott, the church’s teen group leader, and finally finds someone who doesn’t judge her for her secret or the way she looks and dresses. I felt empathy with Shelby and above all wanted to give her a big hug. Hopefully, as the title suggests, there may be another instalment, and I’m really looking forward to reading it to see how Shelby’s later years progress.

A really poignant tale that many teens will relate to, and not just because of the big secret, but the identity issues, the feelings of being alone, unloved, and ignored.”

— Cocktail Reviews
“With crisp prose and cathartic diary entries, we follow Shelby through this trying summer before she starts high school. While religion is present in this inspirational tale, I believe both religious and non-religious readers will enjoy the story and relate to Shelby’s conflicts. Parrish deftly depicts a turning-point summer for Shelby, and I look forward to future volumes in this series.”

“After reading this refreshing book, I felt like I’d revisited my early teens. A sweet ‘girl meets boy’ story. The ‘puppy love’ they find brought a smile to my face, reminding me of the old days. Young teens will especially enjoy and relate to this book. A good clean story with a very interesting outcome… a great way to curl up and spend an afternoon… every time I had to put it down I couldn’t wait to pick it up again.”

— Susan B. Powell, Victim Advocate, Lexington County Courthouse and Minister’s Wife, Red Bank Baptist Church
“A good, clean story that mother and daughter will find hard to put down. I hope Robyne has more tales of Jillian in the making.”

Robbie Lee and the Wilds of Houston Valley

Ms. Parrish offers up book signing in May 2008 and will return to ETCC for book release party Saturday, July 26th!

Robbie Lee and the Wilds of Houston ValleyRobbie Lee Wilds turns six just after the devastating stock market crash of 1929. This funny and moving historical novel is based on stories passed down from the authors grandmother. The Wilds of Houston Valley weather the Great Depression living happily off the land. Sustained by the love and decency that flourish in their valley like the pine and cedar on its surrounding hills, this hardworking farm family never loses sight of its values. Hoover’s Presidency and FDR’s New Deal measures like the heralded Tennessee Valley Authority are fascinating landmarks in this young girl’s life. Through it all, the fiercely inquisitive Robbie wonders about life beyond the valley. She discovers her voracious appetite for reading, shares her mother’s poignant secret, and, above all, learns the meaning of faith.

“This book was an absolute find. I grew up during the great depression I am from Atlanta Georgia, not Tennessee, nevertheless, I found this book to be a refreshing trip back in time to my youth — a simple and beautiful story about family. A tear jerker at times, but mostly, a story full of laughter. I stumbled upon it on the recommendation of an old friend who knows of the author and her family. For children and adults.”

— Joan Curver, a retired editor and school teacher, A Trip Back in Time, Barnes and Nobles five-star review.
“R.M. Parrish picks up where Laura Ingalls Wilder leaves off. A cozy read for young ones and their parents alike.”

— Robert Reale, Tony-nominated composer of Broadway’s A Year With Frog and Toad
“This is a book for anyone who ever doubted that history was a vibrant, living thing; who ever thought that hard times would never end; who never believed in the power of family, of the earth, and of love. An entertainment for children, and a revelation for their parents.”

— Steve Friedman, author of The Agony of Victory: When Winning Isn’t Enough
“In her book, Robbie Lee and the Wilds of Houston Valley, R.M. Parrish captures the voice, eyes and the ears of its eponymous young narrator. The novel provides a fascinating glimpse of life in rural Tennessee, from the late 1920s through the Great Depression years. While written for mid-grade readers, adults, too, will be enchanted with the authentic details and charming characters. A fine first novel.”

— Alma Daniel, co-author, Ask Your Angels, published by Ballantine Books, a division of Random House.
“…This was another one of my favorite books and I included it in my summer reading program for the grandchildren.”
